Real Men Worship Devotional Day 2

Real Men Worship Devotional Day 2

Worship God for Who He is

A lot of times as men, we don’t worship God either because we don’t really have a relationship with Him or because we fear “stepping out.” It’s either, “I don’t know what I’m doing this for” or ” I feel stupid and awkward doing this.”
But when we can get just a glimpse of who God is, all of those opinions change and we begin to worship God for who He is and not who we are. We are no longer trying to protect our image or confused by the whole “worship thing.” Instead, we are letting go completely and pouring out on the very feet of Jesus all we have inside for Him in a variety of ways- singing, raising hands, jumping, crying, laying on the ground, still or quiet to experience His presence.
God can never be fully understood. He is too great for our limited minds to comprehend. You can’t put Him in a box or describe Him in a few words. But worship allows our minds to be freed for that period of time and experience a powerful glimpse of Him. And when we do, the joy comes, the tears flow and the filling of our hearts begin. You can’t help but smile even through the most painful times of your life. Trust me, I know. I don’t have enough words to describe what the worship experience is like, but if I had to try I’d say it is “fulfilling.”
The Bible says that God is love (I John 4:8). Worshiping Him from this standpoint allows us to engage in a fulfilling experience knowing that we can trust Him with our lives. No matter what we are going through, our God is only looking to help us and shower us with His love. Worship helps pave the way for us to receive his love. Often times, you will hear God speak in the mist of your worship. You will get a reassurance and a confidence in knowing that He is for you and will never leave you (Romans 8:31). Worship allows us to experience that closeness with an ever-present God. It’s a lot easier to go on In life knowing He is by your side (Hebrews 13:5).
So, who is God? The One who created you (Genesis 1:27). God is love. God is your Heavenly Father (I Corinthians 8:6). God is your helper (Hebrews 13:6).  God is our protector (Psalm 91). God is our redeemer (Isaiah 47:4). God is our hope (Psalm 39:7). God is our strength (Psalm 46:1). God is our provider (Philippians 4:19). God is our peace (Philippians 2:14). God is our Healer (Isaiah 53:5). God is JESUS (John 1:1).
Whatever you are in need of or lacking, God can provide through the worship experience. You just have to give it a try.
